For Love of the Game

Being a fisherman first and rod builder second keeps things in perspective. It allows the flexibility to try new things, experiment with crazy ideas, work with the cutting edge of technology, and focus on the artistic side of custom rod building. I am lucky enough to not sell rods, but have a close working relationship with many custom builders who do. This provides the opportunity to get my hands on the latest prototype blanks which are pushing the limit of (big fish/small rod) what you can do with light tackle. Over our cold NJ winter the rod bench is busy with new projects, come April the bench turns quiet and it’s time to put our hard earned time to work, like this Lamiglas super surf creatively tipped and trimmed into a tuna popping rod. After each season, we offload some used rods to build new, further customized versions that are better suited for our style of fishing, the true meaning of a “custom build”. This yearly cycle chasing perfection and pushing the forefront in evolution of technology satisfies our love for the game!
